Ali was born in Tashkent and lived there for 17 years. For the past few years, he has been studying mathematics and economics at a higher education institute in the United States. Ali is fluent in English, Russian, and has a good command of Uzbek. When he visited home during the past summer vacation, Ali felt an urge to use the resources he possessed in the US to contribute to the discussions of events at home. He hopes that uzbekistan.neweurasia.net will be the place to start.

Nick has degrees in African and Asian History from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, and in International Relations from the University of St Andrews, and is currently a graduate student at Indiana University. He is particularly interested in the history and culture of Uzbekistan before, during and after the Soviet era. He has studied to differing levels Arabic, Farsi, Russian and Uzbek. E-mail Nick at nick [at] neweurasia [dot] net.

Hello. Can I know a bit about this meeting in April and the head of NaNaOuz? We are an NGO still currently operating and a bit worried.

Dear authors of this blog: Nick and Ali,
I was searching about Uzbek dance and found your page. I am a dancer from San Francisco who has been studying and performing dance styles from Central Asia for the last 10 years. I returned from a dance residency in Tajikistan last summer and this summer I am looking to study dance in Tashkent, Uzbekistan this June (2008). Do you have any contacts or suggestions? Thank you. Also below is a video of my performance with Abbos:
