Small Grants Program - Human Rights - Uzbekistan
The Norwegian Helsinki Committee is glad to announce that a Small Grants Program for Uzbekistan has been established.Norwegian Helsinki Committee was founded in 1977. The activity of the NHC is based on the principles of the Helsinki Declaration from 1975, signed by 35 European and North-American countries on the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe (CSCE). The Declaration confirms that respect towards human rights is a central factor for peace, promotion of friendship and cooperation between countries.
During the fall of 2006, the NHC opened a representative office for Central Asia in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The Bishkek office administers small grants funds for the support of projects in the sphere of human rights and democracy in Central Asia. The NHC is already supporting local initiatives in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.
This time, organizations and initiative groups with project proposals on promotion of human rights and democracy in Uzbekistan may apply.
All project proposals should be submitted in English and be in line with the application form attached below.
Budgets should be within the frame of 5000 to 15000 USD with time-frames from 6 to 12 months.
Applications may be submitted in the period from June 05, 2008 to August 01, 2008. The Norwegian Helsinki Committee will consider all applications in August 2008.

It looks like they do not really know situation in Uzbekistan. Since 2005 it is practically impossible for anybody, especially for NGO, to get money from abroad.

Ivan, believe me, there are people, who know how to get out of situation…
